Energy Coach

What the role involves

What to expect working with Total Sports

Our staff lead everything from pottery making to dodgeball, water fights to UV raves. Every day is different working with Total Sports. Our staff develop transferable skills daily such as resourcefulness, confidence, teamwork and independence.

Our Energy coaches are primarily 18+. However, for exceptional 17 year olds, we have a training pathway on our Placement Coach scheme that may result in paid assistant coach hours before they turn 18.

We are here to help you achieve your potential, wherever you are in your career. We offer expert training and development pathways, nationally recognised qualifications and endless opportunities for career progression.

Meet like-minded people, share an experience that you will never forget and make friends for life. Our staff come back year on year… some of our team are 15 years in and counting. We’ve even had Total weddings!

We’re a very social bunch! We arrange events regularly to help keep our teams in touch. Bongo’s Bingo, golf games, weekends away and our prestigious Annual Total Sports Awards Night were just a few of our 2022 events.

With over 40 schools, more than 10 camps and multiple care club locations, we can tailor your role to suit you. Hours can fit around studies, be term time or holidays only and using our innovative scheduling app, staff can keep up to date with shifts easily.

What you need to be a Total Energy Coach

  • Have relevant experience working with children in an active setting. This can be in a holiday club, in schools or as a voluntary or paid coach. It is likely that you will have a preferred activity to coach, but you will need to be willing to learn how to lead sessions from bench ball to dance parties. Don’t worry, we will provide all the training you need to excel on camp.

  • Be looking for work that supplements either another job or your studies. Holiday clubs only run during the school breaks, so although you may be working full hours during school holidays, during term time there are limited opportunities for paid work with us. For those who stand out on camps, we have coaching hours in schools and at our wraparound care during term time. This is for a select few and the majority of our Holiday Club staff just work during holidays, but many have progressed onto full time work with us after studies have finished.

  • Hold, or be willing to gain full clearance through an Enhanced Criminal Records Check through the Disclosure Barring Service.

  • Be enthusiastic and a team player. Our camp teams are extremely close and all potential new staff should expect to be welcomed whole heartedly. Due to the nature of our work – weather, illness, facilities and parents can mean that teams need to be flexible and work together to ensure children have the best time on camp. Willingness to adapt, join in and have fun is an essential.
